MTV announced Lil Mama will serve as Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew’s third judge when the new So You Think You Can Dance - like reality competition series premieres on February 7.
Lil Mama will join the show’s previously announced judges, former N Sync member JC Chasez and So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Shane Sparks.
Hosted by former Dancing with the Stars second-season celebrity participant Mario Lopez, Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew will begin with eight dance teams consisting of five to seven members.
During each episode, the teams will rehearse themed choreography for that week’s showdown before competing against one another. Each crew’s performance will be critiqued by Lil Mama, Chasez and Sparks.
Immediately following each episode broadcast, home viewers will be able to vote for their favorite crew via text messaging, the Internet or by phone. The two teams that receive the lowest number of viewer votes will then battle head-to-head for the judges and the chance to advance to the next round.
One team will be eliminated each week, and the crew left standing at the end will be crowned “the nation’s best dance crew” and awarded a cash prize and touring contract.
Prior to its premiere, MTV will air a two-hour “live casting showdown” on Saturday, January 26 at 2PM ET (PT tape-delayed), in which the American Idol judge will reveal the eight dance crews participating in the show. Twelve dance crews were initially selected following auditions in Atlanta, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.
Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew is executive produced by Jackson, Rob Lee, Howard Schwartz and Karen Schwartz, Harriet Sternberg and Joel Gallen. David Auerbach and Brooke Karzen are the executives overseeing the project for Warner Horizon Television. Drew Tappon and Lauren Dolgen are the executives overseeing the project for MTV.

On Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, singer Lil Mama got the chance to perform at her hometown’s biggest arena.
“That was my first time ever doing the Garden,” she said the following afternoon. “I had my whole family with me. It was crazy! It was a totally different feeling than doing other cities; I was hanging out a little bit. So I came from the ‘hood straight to the stage! Literally straight from home to the big arena.”
In December, Mama was slated to rock the Garden as part of the Chris Brown and Bow Wow tour but she had to take time off to mourn the loss of her mother, who succumbed to cancer.
“We’re good,” she said when asked how her family has been holding up. “We’re still movin’. We gotta make sure the crib is good and we’re making sure we keep that apartment she had uptown. That’s a certain kind of love right there. My brothers are holding it down.”
Mama has been back to work the past few weeks and she recently finished another video. The track is called “Shawty Get Loose” and features T-Pain and Chris Brown.
” ‘Shawty Get Loose’ is basically just about dancing,” she said. ” ‘Baby, do what you do/ Let me see you let down your hair.’ I wear long hair in the video to give it that. It’s beautiful. On the verses, I’m just spittin’ — setting the record straight, nobody’s seeing me, talking a lot of smack. You know how I do!”
Although the three Jive recording artists didn’t actually get a chance to record the song together, they did have some bonding time during the filming of the video.
“It’s gonna be crazy when it comes out,” she beamed. “People are gonna be like, ‘That’s Lil Mama?!’ We play characters in the video, me, Chris and T-Pain. It’s a futuristic video. When the treatment was written, it was supposed to be the year 2030; I think it’s even further than that. It looks like 3000! We shot it in the studio — I don’t have my dancers in the video, Chris doesn’t have his dancers in the video. We have some clean, long shots.”
“Chris is the best dancer,” she continued. “We turned it up! Every time we see each other the energy goes through the roof.”
Mama, Brown and the rest of their tourmates (such as Soulja Boy Tell’em, Bow Wow and recurring guests Omarion and Hurricane Chris) have become real cool during her recently finished stint on the tour.
“We’re just having mad fun, running around,” she said. “When you get off the stage, you have fun, relax, enjoy the other performances. I be with the guys on the tour or the dancers. If not, then I’m with my family.”
Lil Mama’s debut album, Voice of the Young People, is slated for an April release.

2006 Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger has died in NY.
He was found dead in his bed in one of his residences in Soho by his housekeeper at 3:35 PM ET today. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe it was not a crime, adding that prescription pills were found near his body.
According to NYPD a masseuse arrived at Ledger’s apartment and was let in by a housekeeper. When Ledger didn’t answer his bedroom door, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened it and found him unconscious. They attempted to wake him; when they couldn’t, they called 911.
We’re told when paramedics responded, the actor was in full cardiac arrest. They attempted to perform CPR on him, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Look out! Lil Mama’s on the show today and if you saw the last time she was on One Nation, you know there’s going to be some craziness goin’ down! Frankie Needles travels to Anaheim to hang with the Voice of the Young People. They’re on her tour bus just hours before opening for Chris Brown on the “Up Close and Personal” Tour.

The Handless Organist Truly Is A Miracle of God, mostly because it led to me looking for other bad album covers. And I found lots. So many it was tough to narrow down the list here, but here are the best (worst?) 27 of the bunch (we’ll count Ms. Organist up top as number one).
